My Weekly Gallery (Dusty, Tired, Complicated, Fun)

Hey guys, How's your week end? As I told you before, I was involved by one of mechanical engineer to learn and help him in supervising one of project at Overhaul (OH)  NAR 2*. As consequence there is no holiday during OH.

The project which had been given to me was Collecting Plate and Discharge Electrode Replacement at Electrostatic Precipitator (EP.). This equipment is part of dedusting system and common used in cement manufacturing, power plant, or paper and pulp plant. The main function is for absorbing the dust by using electrostatic principle so the gas which is released through chimney/stack is already cleaner. So no wonder that is very dusty inside EP. That's why I've to clean my clothes up by pressured air after having work inside EP and in the end of the day wash my watch, glasses, and respirator.

Actually it was my first-biggest experience in dealing with engineering work. At the first, I wasn't sure in my self. There was no enough confidence due to less time dealing with engineering work during I was in college than extracurricular activities. But then I tried to convince myself over and over again. I just inspired by Bonek's way of life. Take first and think about it later.Hehhe.

I totally agree that confidence is part of success as well, so that I went to site by full of artificial confidence. Heheh. I did some kind of zero mind process which everything was started from zero. I met various people with different characteristic and experience. Along the way I finally enjoy this job. I learned many things and got new experience, new relation. There were more other interesting things which I got.

But I realize that this work not only gives me something new but also took much time as consequences. I went to plant before 8 a.m and arrived at home after 8 p.m. That's why there was a complain from my partner. For sure it was complicated for us. I have to be able to please her as hard as I can.

By this post, I would like to apologize profusely. I've just started find something which had me looking for months. I've committed to my self that by the time I get married, family is first, no compromise. But before we go to that level, I wanted to let you know what kind of the work that I've been dealing for a week. These are some of picture that will be faced by me in the following years even though I wouldn't spent whole of my precious time for such work.

This is Electrostatic Precipitator taken from outside. The worker was lifting the existing Collecting Plate down. There were 80 plates which would be replaced by the new one.

I was standing on the Discharge Electrode frame. It's about 10 meters in height. That's why I must wear Full Body Harness.

This picture was taken from top roof of EP. The workers were installing the discharge electrode. It's fully combination of confined space, work in height, and dusty. Really challenging.
It's also taken from the top of EP. I took this picture at the bridge which connected the EP to chimney/stack. That's mobile crane which was lifting the casing plate up.

And finally, that's me. I was waiting in line for cleaning my clothes by using pressured air. I'd to wear a set of personal protective equipment, like safety helmet, safety google (it's just already fell down into hopper of EP), japanese hat, full body harness, etc, which's total about 5 kilograms in weight.Hehe

In the end of the day, I've to compile all of the findings and work progress into a daily report. It was both of field and office activity.I'll post other activity related this work later. Keep on spirit and have a nice day. :)

Keep Learning, Keep Growing!!
*NAR 2 means Narogong 2. The name of plant in Narogong Plant. There are only  2 kiln line in Narogong, NAR 1 and NAR 2
